Photographer's Statement
"My background is in fine art/painting, which tends to heighten my awareness of composition and overall design. Many photographers seem rarely to look at art or go to galleries but this, combined with the practise of drawing, forms the basic vocabulary for anyone working visually.
Much of my inspiration comes from exploring our beautiful countryside. Walking with a camera involves me with the life of my surroundings and encourages me to really look at things that might otherwise go un-noticed. New digital developments are fantastic and I do use digital cameras, but as long as medium format film still gives me the astonishing "wow!" factor on detail, I shall be reluctant to give it up."
