Trained in illustration by the brilliant Normal Thelwell, Mary went on to commercial design before experiments with textiles and mixed media led to stunning paintings of the land and its creatures.

Artist's Statement
“When I left Wolverhampton College of Art, I never thought I’d become a wildlife artist. After years of working at other things, my husband Richard and I moved to West Wales. I saw pheasants, grouse, snipe and many other birds in their natural habitats, and became so fascinated that I began to paint them – mainly in watercolour and gouache.
“I usually work at more than one painting at a time – always if using oils, as each picture needs to dry a little before being built up. The majority of my work is commissioned, so it leaves me little time for exhibitions. Being a wildlife artist is my passion in life, and I hope you’ll enjoy my work.”
