“Working outdoors presents all kinds of amazing opportunities for travel to unspoiled and beautiful places. I’ve been a Mountain Guide for 32 years, and a camera has pretty much always been an essential part of my mountaineering kit. Although it has often been a burdensome load, it’s always worthwhile.

“I like the challenge of taking photographs in difficult situations where working quickly and efficiently is key. Resulting pictures are not always what I expected, but they do capture the spontaneity of the moment. However, in extreme conditions, I sometimes have to concentrate on finding the way safely, so the camera gets stashed in my backpack!”
