Kath lives not many miles from our studio in South Wales. Her acute observation, compassion and humour produce marvelous paintings of the elderly captured in quiet moments at home or having a good natter with friends.

Artist's Statement

“I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t drawing or painting. I spent a year at Cardiff College of Art, but not having a grant, had to get ‘a proper job’. Many ‘proper jobs’ later, I was working in the U.S.A, and from there, I did a 3-year fine art course with the Famous Artists School in Westport, Connecticut.

"My main focus is on people and their reactions – or lack of them – to each another. I paint slices of life as I see it with telling gestures and facial expressions, and leave the viewer to choose his or her own interpretation. Painting is a process of continuous learning, and I value all the lessons available, whether from present-day Masters, professionals or the many excellent publications.”
