Photoworks is really interesting. They publish a regular magazine, commission new photography, curate exhibitions in the UK and abroad, provide opportunities for lots of different organisations, photographers, writers, etc. as well as publishing books, running seminars and lots more! Photographic Directory Project
The Photographic Directory Project is a free, searchable, categorised, online directory of photography resources. The Association of Photographers
The Association of Photographers (est. 1968) was created to protect the rights of photographers, establish best practice standards and promote photography. It offers support services like business management workshops, legal advice and a database of worldwide services. This library of stock images promotes itself as “Run by photographers for photographers” and it certainly helps individual shooters promote themselves well by adding newsletter mentions of their new projects, skills or specialisations. The SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) is definitely the professional association to join if you are involved in this type of work. Their website is full of good stuff for members, such as career advice, qualifications to pursue, jobs, monthly competitions, etc. Best of all, it includes links to all their Partner Associations.
