Former art teacher and artist Susan takes her viewers on journeys “to interesting places or a happy moment.” Her watercolours are gentle evocations of the impressive land and seascapes, intriguing architecture and gardens in which Wales is so abundant.

Artist's Statement

“I’ve always loved drawing and sketching and now, after teaching for more than 30 years, I finally have time to explore the wonderful world of paint. Living in Wales, I have an abundance of inspiration all around me, and I enjoy painting all sorts of subjects.

Often, I’m influenced by emotive, atmospheric places and try to capture their energy, light and colour within a single moment in time. I hope to ignite a sense of belonging or the viewer’s curiosity about a scene. By using expressive realism in my paintings, I try to take the observer on a journey to interesting places or re-create a happy moment that awakens an emotional response.”
