You Are Cordially Invited…

Every summer, we start out with optimistic plans of hosting a relaxing, sociable get-together with our creative customers and friends at our lovely Brecon Beacons home and studio. But when was our last really good summer?

Never mind. Let’s make 2010 a year to remember. Forget volcanic ash clouds and economic upheavals. Lay down your weary burden of bills and uncertainties. It’s about time we all had a bit of fun!

Salt of the Earth’s Summer Open House and Picnic
Friday, July 9th 2010 from noon till dusk.

What’s the Open House? If you’ve never visited our studio, come and see where we make your fab giclée prints, and get to know “the A Team”. Also, save the hassle of posting artwork; load up your car with those paintings you’ve been meaning to have scanned. Or bring a few photo Tiffs @ 300 d.p.i. on disk or memory stick.

But the Open House is also about you! Meet other artists and photographers. Swap ideas, contacts and stories. We invite you to bring your camera, a sketch pad, pastels or paints. We’d love to see examples of your work, too. Get some feedback and encouragement! Let us all enjoy your imagery and talent. Go on, go on, go on. Oh, go on.

The Picnic! Yep. A real, old-fashioned throw-a-blanket-on-the-grass-grab-a-plate-and-get stuck-in kind of picnic. We’ll provide bevvies (non-alcoholic only), some nosh and nibbles. But we can’t feed the 5000! So please bring a food contribution of your own to the feast. Anything you like eating, both for you/your bunch and some to share. Whatever you fancy: a bowl of potato salad. A plate of fried chicken. A pile of yummy sandwiches, a dessert, marinated herrings, or kebabs ready for the barbie. (Yes, we’ll have a grill all fired up and waiting.)

Why Friday?? We’ve plumped for a Friday, because you might like to add on a lovely weekend in this beautiful area or go on to the seashore after our bash. (O.K, yes, we know Friday is a workday, but be a devil! Life is for living, not just routines.)

What if it rains? Well, then it does. We’ll build a crackling fire indoors, turn up the music and make the best of it. Or don our waterproofs, stay outdoors and toast the fickle gods of Welsh Weather.

R.S.V.P. – The sooner the better!

We need to know how many to expect so that we can plan for practical stuff like seating/lying about areas, edible/drinkable things and most of all…car parking!
